Farmhouse

The client came to us excited to build her first home.  She knew the aesthetic she was looking, the quintessential modern farmhouse.  The design was based on the simple gable forms and windows from early American Vernacular houses.  You enter between two volumes that are clad in different patterns as though built at different times, inside the respective exterior materials of each volume is highlighted in the entry hall.  The two-story volume was pushed back allowing the one-story volume to respect the scale of the neighborhood.  In the rear of the property is an ADU with its own private yard and entry.
